Museum of the City of New York, New York City Overview

Founded in 1923, the Museum of the City of New York (MCNY) in Manhattan preserves artifacts, maps and photos from the birth of New York in the 16th century till date. It is open from 10 AM till 6 PM from Thursday to Monday, except on Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Eve.

Free admission is offered from 27th August to 14th September and for visitors aged below 20. The regular fee including the exhibitions is USD 20 for adults and USD 14 for students with I.D. and seniors aged above 65. The permanent exhibition, New York At Its Core is the first ever presentation of the full history of New York City. There are nearly 750000 objects in the museum, among which some are highlighted including prints, photographs, theatre, paintings, sculptures, costume, textile, archives, manuscripts, ephemera, decorative arts and furniture. You can explore over 190000 digital exhibitions, live streams and recorded videos. Educational activities are organized for all age-groups.
