Hell’s Gate National Park is located south of Lake Naivasha, northwest of Nairobi. It is excellent for walking, hiking, cycling, rock climbing and motorcycling. Bird watching is also popular here since it houses over 100 bird species. Its breathtaking landscape boasts of two extinct volcanoes, Hobley’s and Olkaria.
The park’s diverse wildlife consists of African buffaloes, lions, Augur buzzards, Verreaux’s eagles and hyenas. It also houses the Hell’s Gate Gorge and red cliffs which have two volcanic plugs Fischer's Tower and Central Tower. Close to the Central Tower is a small gorge which leads to hot springs. It is a great location for photography. The Olkaria Geothermal Station and The Mervyn Carnelley Raptor Hide are situated within the park. One can also learn about the Maasai tribe at the Maasai Cultural Center. Visitors can stay at one of its three campsites (Oldubai, Endachata, Naiburta) or spend some relaxing time at its health spa.
