Shikinaen Royal Garden, Naha Overview
The second residence of the Ryukyuan kings, built in 1799 around a pond with red-tiled pavilions and a Chinese-style arched bridge. Where Shuri Castle above it is a reconstruction, this is the original, and it is the only Ryukyuan royal garden still standing. Quiet, rarely crowded, 400 yen, and closed on Wednesdays.
