Daiichi Makishi Public Market, Naha Overview
Two floors of Okinawan food in one building. Downstairs is fish in colours you will not see on the mainland, sea grapes and cuts of pork; upstairs the restaurants will cook whatever you bought downstairs for a small fee, which is the reason to come here rather than simply eat out. The market was demolished and rebuilt, reopening in its new building in March 2023, so older guides describe a temporary site that no longer exists.
