Tam Kung Birthday Festival, Hong Kong Overview

Hong Kong, also called as the Fragrance Harbor, traditionally celebrates the birthday of Tam Kung, a renowned fisherman during the Yaun dynasty. This festival is annually observed on the eighth day of the fourth lunar month. Legends say that Tam Kung possessed the power of forecasting weather and healing illness of people, from a very young age. Ceremonies including a lion dance and street parade are held in the Tam Kung temple of Sahu Kei, In memory of Tam Kung.
