Located along Jalan Padang Kota Lama, Penang City Hall, also referred to as Dewan Bandaraya Pulau Penang, is a colonial building and the head office of the Municipal Council of Penang Island. The City Hall is a must visit only to witness the colonial architecture and incredible views.
Built in the late nineteenth century, the City Hall has at its disposal the view of the historic parade ground at Padang Kota Lama, World War I memorial Cenotaph and panoramic views of the Esplanade. It is famed for being one of the first buildings in George Town to be appropriated with electrical fans and lights. Formerly known as the City Hall of George Town, the building has also been listed in George Town’s UNESCO World Heritage Site.
