Barahachhetra, Dharan Overview
Barahachhetra stands at Chatara where the Saptakoshi comes out of the hills, and it is counted among the four great char dhams of Nepal alongside Muktinath, Pashupatinath and Ridi. The temple is dedicated to Vishnu in his boar incarnation. Pilgrims bathe at the confluence before entering, and the big gatherings fall at Kartik Purnima and Makar Sankranti. It is about forty kilometres west of Dharan.
