Bhuri Singh Museum, Dalhousie Overview
Named after the former ruler of Chamba, the Bhuri Singh Museum was founded in 1908 and preserves the region's cultural heritage. Located in the heart of Chamba, it holds over 8,500 items related to archaeology, anthropology, craft, and culture, and stands as a record of Chamba's past.
Initially, the museum only inherited the paintings of Raja Bhuri Singh, but now it houses copper plate grants, carved doors and miniature paintings of old palaces. It also has a vast collection of coins, armour, jewellery and musical instruments. There are exhibits of paintings from Basohli School which showcases the scenes from Ramayana and Bhagvat Geeta.
