Tada Falls, Chittoor Overview

Also known as Ubbalamudugu Falls, Tada Falls is a gorgeous waterfall located near the near Tricity and Oneness Temple in the Chittoor district of India. Cascading from a towering height of around a 100 m, the crystal clear waterfall falling down the rocks is a visual delight and a sight to behold.

Considered to be one of the top tourist attractions of the city, there is Siddulaiah Kona forest in the vicinity of the site which is an ideal place for trekking, hiking and other foresty activities. Besides, Tada Falls is known for its an incredible landscape, lush greenery and ethereal hillocks.

Other than regular tourists, nature lovers and adventure enthusiasts, the place also visited by a lot of Lord Shiva devotees. The most common activity to enjoy near Tada Falls other than swimming and picnicking, is trekking.

Trek to Tada Falls

Since the waterfalls is located in the woods, trekking is the most common and also the most thrilling to reach the Tada Falls. You can park your vehicle around 10 km from the destination at the Tada Falls parking lot, which is almost at the junction of the city and the woods. The adrenaline rushing trek has several trails and routes through rocky terrains and rough patches. On the way, there are several Base Camps on the way to give you a sense of direction.

If you are a novice trekker, you can take the 3 km long trek that goes along a clear stream. Besides this, there is also a mid level trek up along some boulders to the base of Tada Falls. This trail is laden with dainty streams and lush green landscape sprawling all over, offering a pleasant experience and a gorgeous view. As mentioned before, there are several streams on the way where you can sit and relax, soak your feet in the clear waters or even take a dip.

Tips

  1. Wear comfortable trekking shoes with a good grip. As the rocks are really slippery, you would need to be really careful.
  2. Make sure you don’t step into the water or the streams with your shoes on. If your shoes get wet, the steep trek will be all the more difficult and risky.
  3. The trek is a little difficult, so it is advisable not to bring young children and elderly people.

Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit Tada Falls is during the period between August and December. At this time, the sun is less intense and shrill and thus provides a pleasant wholesome experience. It is advised not to visit the waterfalls between the months of March and June as the area experiences high humidity. Plus the sun is really bright and trekking at this time can be extremely uncomfortable.
