From Hyderabad we reached Bangalore airport . Airport to Chikmagalur distance is about 270 KM . It is a beautiful hill station . Hill tops at Mullayanagiri & Baba Budan giri are excellent . Jhari & H (Read More)ebbe waterfalls are breathtaking . Temples at Belur & Hallebidu are outstanding .

Best place to explore for nature lovers. Trekking through forest to reach jhaari falls is really amazing. Seethalayanagiri, mullayannagiri etc feels like heaven when we are at the top. One can have (Read More)a best experience in visiting this place.

Around 40 km from Chikmagalur, this sanctuary has one of the most treacherous roads I?ve ever been on. There was a very little amount of tarred roads, the roads were mostly laden with rocks. If you?r (Read More)e into offroad adventures, a ride through this sanctuary will satisfy your craving and with it show you some exotic animals and birds. Make sure you have enough fuel and air in the tires. The entry is free but you have to write your names and contact information at the entry point for safety.

I stayed at the Coffee Village Retreat while in Chikmagalur. It is a secluded coffee plantation property, with two huge guest houses nestled bang in the middle of it. I went in May, which was not the (Read More) harvest season, so coffee beans were still green. If you want to experience the aroma of coffee in the air during the plucking season, it is advisable to visit between January-March. Do try the authentic South Indian flavours of gunpowder mixed with a little ghee while you're in the village. Your taste buds will thank you. The locals are very amiable, and will more often than not smile and wave at you. Reciprocate, and they'll smile wider. A suggestion from the locals prompted me to take a trek along the View Point trail nearby. It was an easy, refreshing, picturesque climb.

Situated around 30 km from Chikmagalur, Baba Budangiri is a pilgrimage destination for Muslims and Hindus alike. The drive there is a bit dangerous as the roads have no barriers and are very unevenly (Read More) tarred but as you reach the top, every bit of that fear will have been worth it. You can see the Western Ghats stretching across the horizon with fogs providing that extra aestheticism and feel cold winds brushing up against your face if you travel during the winter and in the morning. Make sure you carry cash for snacks and take winter wear as the nights get really cold. There are cheap rooms available at the top for as cheap as 400 rupees per night but the facilities are really questionable.

The coffee land of Karnataka, Chikmagalur is famous for its beautiful hills and views, along with its aromatic coffee. Chikmagalur means the town of the younger daughter, the name originating from th (Read More)e historical event in which the city was offered as dowry to the younger daughter of Rukmangada, the chief of Sakrepanta. Situated at the foothills of the Mullyanagiri ranges, it is a great attraction for trekkers and those wishing to experience the peaceful ambience of the city. The other attractions that the town has to offer include Mullain Giri, the highest peak in Karnataka, Jamia Mosque, Kondadarama Temple, St Joseph's Cathedrals well as the Siddheshwara temple, which is just nearby.

- Money exchange kiosks are not easily found in Chikmagalur. Kannada is the main language, but locals understand Hindi and English to a certain extent.

I went here first time with my new office friends. This place has been added to one of the memorable trip of my life. Best place to go with your friends. We had a stay at The Coffee Beans cottage.
