Canopy Walkway, Chiang Mai Overview

The Canopy Walkway is one of the prime attractions newly inaugurated in 2015 within the Queen Sirikit Botanic Garden. It is a walking trail made of a glass floor and suspended in the air and is the longest suspended walkway in Thailand. It offers a stunning view over the mountains.

Stretching 400 meters and over 20 meters above lush gardens, Canopy Walkway is made of sturdy steel, mesh metal, glass, and fiberglass. The Walkway hosts four viewing platforms, where visitors can admire the views of the Mae Rim jungles and orchids, bromeliads, lotuses, and other beautiful flowers nestled in the gardens below.

Things to Do at Canopy Walkway

Flying Draco Trail
Live for the adrenaline rush? This landmark promises just that. Named after a flying lizard that is found only in Doi Suthep, Draco Maculatus is the longest suspended trail in Thailand. Located in Queen Sirikit Botanic Garden, this Walkway will bring you closer the jungle flora, along with the mountains in the background.

Glasshouse Complex
Other than Thailand’s longest Walkway, the Glasshouse complex at Queen Sirikit Botanic Garden is the focal attraction point here. As you enter this attraction, you will be welcomed with water mist from the large fountain area and a bed of vibrant flowers. Adorned in outdoor flower beds and themed collections, the Glasshouse complex houses eight conservatories. Some of the flowers and plants here include lotus flowers, orchids, carnivore plants, and medicinal herbs, among others.

Museum of Natural Science
A haven for plant lovers, this museum in Queen Sirikit Botanic Garden provides a deep understanding of the plant species. The museum also features 4D screenings and interactive displays to make it more interesting, knowledgeable, and fun for all.

How to Reach Canopy Walkway

There are multiple ways to get to the Canopy Walkway.

Car/Bike Rentals
You can either rent a scooter or drive by yourself. If you are renting a scooter or a motorbike, it costs around THB 250 per day. And the renting facilities are available throughout Chiang Mai.

Taxi Servies
There are taxis you could book as well. If you are going by taxi, it costs around THB 1000, but you can negotiate on the price and bring it lower than the said price.
