Dattatreya Square

"The third and quietest of Bhaktapur's squares, built around a 1427 temple"

Dattatreya Square, Bhaktapur Overview

Tachapal Tole is the oldest part of Bhaktapur and the least visited of its three squares, which is the reason to walk the extra ten minutes east. The Dattatreya temple at its centre dates from 1427 and is said to have been raised from the timber of a single tree. Around it are monastery courtyards, brass shops and two small museums. Come here when Durbar Square gets crowded.
