To the western end of the Auckland waterfront in New Zealand is the Wynyard Quarter, a reformed property which has been undergoing a transformation project since 2011. It was opened in time for the Rugby World Cup in 2011 and has since been redeveloping into a modern space with plazas, restaurants, theatre and sports ground along with other lineups in construction. In summer, the Silo Park becomes the hub here with weekend markets and movie shows.
Silo Park- The attractions here at present include the Silo Park, where there are the outdoor movie spaces and markets have become a popular place in summer. This space is one of the hotspots here with the beautiful waterfront as a backdrop and the concrete silos over the place along with creative art spaces like Silo 6. It was also the host of the 2018 Auckland Arts Festival.
Wind Tree Sculpture- The iconic ‘Wind Tree’ sculpture is another popular spot here which was installed in the Jellico Square as a boost to the tone of the area.
Karanga Plaza- The Karanga Plaza at the heart of the quarter is a popular spot with its new Karanga Kiosk in place to help out the on goings here and if you are in search of a place to grab a bite, the Williams Eatery is the perfect pick with their special coffee, beverages and great quality food.
Jet Rides- The Jet rides, play space, basketball court and the ‘Sound of Sea’ art works, where one can get inside them and play or speak into them are the other popular spaces to not miss out while in Wynyard Quarter.
