Goya Boutique Resort

The AC had a weird sound, I knew it was because it was NOT clean because I know that if that happens it is because it is not clean (see the photo). I asked front desk to send a technician to check it and when they took out the filter rack it was BLACK full of dirt. Had to wait for a long time for them to make something. I told them that if people breathe that could be bad because when it is obstructed that contains mold and that is not good for the lunges. They give me another room because I told them I was not going to accept sleeping there and that I was going to another place.. The other room also had a similar sound. The next day I requested to clean them.

Staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was very nice with generous large complimentary bottles of drinking water provided. Breakfast was ordered (not buffet) but the selection was good and the food was well prepared. There was even complimentary tea / coffee & local snacks at the poolside from 3-5 p.m. every day which was a pleasant surprise. The whole resort is very nicely laid out and furnished, with lots of beautiful spots for photo-taking. Food pricing was reasonable as well. We ordered a romantic dinner to celebrate my wife's birthday, which came with a several course menu and a bottle of wine. The food served for the dinner was very good. And of course, they did not forget the complimentary birthday cake. The dinner was at a pavilion overlooking the greenery below. They decorated the whole pavilion and the path leading to it with flowers, rose petals and candles. Sugi and Suan served us dinner and they were very polite and attentive in their service. In all, it was a wonderful dinner experience and worth every cent we paid. They even decorated our bed to wish my wife a happy birthday. In all, the staff went the extra mile to make our stay very pleasant. The Ubud town centre was only about 15 minutes' walk away. There we found very nice little trinket accessory (earrings, pendants, chains etc) shops. There were also very nice restaurants on the little street where the hotel is located and cheap massage options as well. There was even a guardian pharmacy and a mini supermarket a short (15-10 minutes) walk away. Our only regret is that we did not stay one or two nights longer and headed out to Sofitel Nusa Dua instead, which is the subject of another (alas very disappointing) review altogether.

The elevator and the room had a bit of a musty smell, the type you get when a room has not been aired for a long time. This is something they need to address. After a while, we got used to it but it should not be there. The king size bed mattress needs to be changed. There were two large depressions one on each half of the bed, due to long usage. This gave poor back support. Only the center part of the bed was firm. They must have suffered from guests pilfering their body / hair shampoos and conditioners, as the bottles they came in were locked down. This is fine except that the way the bottles were secured made it very difficult to squeeze the soap / shampoo / conditioner out, especially when the spouts were very small and each plunge yielded very little from the bottles making the whole exercise quite tiring. There were also too few clothes hangers for two people. We asked for more and while we were provided with more, they were the poor quality thin wire type of hangers that leave pressure marks on your clothes. We ended up not using them at all.
