South Central Vietnam

Da Lat is a small hill town in central highlands where the locals mostly visit to get away from the high temperatures of the lowlands. The place which has many water bodies like lakes and waterfalls attracts foreign tourists too. Touted to be the best summer recluse in Vietnam, one can also enjoy many activities to get some adrenaline running.

During the war, Viet cong built underground passages for military and security operations. These passages have been renovated and opened for tourists. There is an extensive network of underground tunnels which enthuse you with dim lights and the fact that they are underground! You shouldn't stay inside for long though if you're claustrophobic and bats-phobic.

There are many national parks in the country and truly hide immense national treasure in the form of flora and fauna. Cat Tien is one of the largest and most diverse parks with an area of 72,000 hectare! Many activities such as birdwatching, trekking, motor biking can be enjoyed here. Many indeginious species of butterflies, reptiles, mammals and amphibians are found here. However the park cannot accomodate large number of visitors and therefore do make reservations before.

Nha trang is the favourite destination when it comes to enjoying revelry on the beaches. Dig deeper and enjoy its ethnic diversity and culture, its museums, acquariums and much more. Another fancy beach destination is Mui Ne which was once a fishing community and today one of the best places to bask in the sun while sipping cocktails. Da Lat is a small town in the central highlands, about 1500 mt above sea level and a good rescue from the warm weather of Vietnam. Da Nang is another party town where the popular Dragon Bridge and Cham Sculptor Museum are located. You can also shop for souvenirs and enjoy Vietnamese delicacies in Da Nang.

Vietnamese Cuisine is quite rich and it is evident in the South Central region too. May it be five star restaurants or street hawkers, the tasty dishes are irresistable to your buds. Mi Quang, Bun Thit Nuong, Bun Cha Ca, Com Chien, Nem Lui, Chao Tom and RauCau Trai Dua are the popular dishes in and around Da Nang. On the coastal areas, sea food is more popular like Bun Cha Ca (Rice vermicelli with grilled fish and jelly fish) and sea food from Lang Chai.

There is a strong influence of Buddhism among the people of Vietnam. Other key religions that are followed by different sects are Confucianism, Taoism and Catholicism. There's a large population which does not follow any religious belief but just that good deeds and simple life is the mantra for happy living. Because of this the culture of Vietnam has evolved beautifully for past few decades. Friendly and helping nature of people makes it stand out even from many developed countries.Vietnamese is the common tongue but there are many ethnic languages that exist too. For touristers, English should suffice.
