Glacier Express

The Glacier Express train takes you on an amazing journey through the Swiss Alps. You'll see various beautiful mountain villages and amazing hills on the journey. It is also known as the slowest train in the world, as it travels at a reduced speed so visitors can enjoy the majestic views.

The glacier express travels from Zermatt to St. Moritz and crosses 291 bridges and 91 tunnels. The journey starts in Zermatt, the well-known Swiss city; from here, you can enjoy scenic views of the mountains of the Alps. During the journey, visitors are offered amazing views of the Oberalp Pass (the highest point reached by train throughout the journey) and Ruinaulta Gorge (the grand canyon of Switzerland), the Landwasser Viaduct (a 6-arch stone bridge that rises above the River Landwasser), the Soliser Viaduct (located 85 meters above the river), and the last city of St. Moritz, the last destination. For cheaper rates, one can buy the tickets in advance and the off-season. The Glacier Express has been running since 1930. It uses the Rhetian railway network to cross the Swiss cantons of Grisons, Uri, and Valais.
