Affandi Museum, Yogyakarta Overview
Affandi built this riverside compound himself and shaped the roofs like banana leaves. Indonesia's best-known modern painter lived, worked and is buried here, and the galleries hold the paintings he refused to sell, alongside his studio and the car he had rebuilt into the shape of a fish. It is a more personal museum than Ullen Sentalu, which covers court history: this one is about one man, and takes about an hour.
