Kottachedu Teak Forest, Yercaud Overview

Kottachedu Teak Forest is an extensive forest area, 11 km from Yercaud that was once occupied by the hill tribes. It is believed that the tribals vacated the area after a major plague hit the region. Later, the government utilized it by extensively planting teak wood trees in the area.

Boasting of flourishing wildlife, the majorly spotted animals are foxes, anteaters, bison, swallows, paradise flycatchers and more. Mostly frequented by nature lovers, photographers and wanderers, the place is a green lung for the city and is considered a perfect place to relax and rejuvenate.
