History of Xi'an
Xi'an became a major centre of culture and politics in 11th century BC. After much political unrest and changing of hands the next major event in Xi'an was in 1911 when the Qing dynasty was overthrown. The Xi'an incident took place within city walls in 1936 at the time of the Chinese Civil War.
