Formerly known as Canton, this city lies on the Pearl River and is located to the north of Macau. It is the third largest city of China. It used to be a major terminus on the Silk Route.

Being the most flourishing and largest industrial centre, there are plenty of shopping malls like - Tianhe Teemall. This is an international mall and sports stores like Lacoste, Zara, Versace. Shangxiajiu Pedestrian Street has mostly bargainable rates on clothes and jade articles at the Huanlin Jade Street.

The cuisine of this place is Cantonese and the most famous foods are - Roast Suckling Pig (Kao Ru Zhu), Taiye Chicken (Taiye Ji),Dragon Fighting against the Tiger (Long Hu Dou) which is basically a stewed snake and a wild cat, and Stewed Wild Dog Meat. Herbal tea is also something worth trying.
