Kushtarajagala Statue, Weligama Overview
There is much debate about what the 10 feet tall Kushtarajagala Statue represents. Locals believe it is the statue of a prince suffering from a skin disease (kushta), while archaeologists think it depicts a Bodhisattva, a person destined for nirvana.
