The Kong Co Kong Tik Cun Ong Temple is an exquisite Buddhist temple in east Surabaya known for its fusion of Confucius and Taoist architectural styles. On a typical day, you will find pilgrims praying, lighting candles, and burning incense sticks in the temple. As you enter, you will notice beautiful concrete columns wrapped with velvet fabrics and teak altars. Visitors will be greeted with bright colours and strong scents and will have their senses assaulted.
The eye-catching bright red paint of the temple, coupled with the wafting smoke of incense makes for an altogether mystical scene befitting one of Surabaya's most famous temples. A smattering of non-descript food stalls or 'warung'-style eateries found around the temple are famed for serving some of the city's favourite street-food and classic Javanese fare.
