Try their seafood - prawns, pomfret, bhetki, parse (a small sweet water fish - cooked whole with the bones), rohu that is freshly caught from the sea. Vegetarian food such as mochar ghonto (spicy young green bananas), aloo posto, aloo dum (Bengali style) are a must try. You can also shop for conch shell trinkets as souvenirs.

You can explore Shankarpur in one day. You can start your day by waking up early in the morning and going to the beach to witness one of the most beautiful sunrises. Then you can have breakfast at one of the nearby beach hotels. From there, you can travel to Mandarmoni beach which is 21 km from Shankarpur and is a short 35 minutes drive.

You can indulge in some water sports, take a swim in the beach and have a nice lunch. Don't forget to try the local fish. From there, you can go to Digha beach which is a short half an hour drive from Shankarpur. Soak in the beautiful sunset over the horizon and have a bonfire at night and stay in Digha for the night.

- The beaches are not yet armed with their own life guards and are mostly isolated. So when you plan to enjoy the beach waves, make sure you stay as close to the shore as possible.

  What's Great?

It is one of the isolated beaches that a few people know about, and even fewer people visit. It is less crowded but nonetheless charming.

  What's not so Great?

Shankarpur is one of the isolated beaches and hence is not developed enough in the sense of tourism. There are no decent hotels and water activities to enjoy.

For Whom

Shankarpur is a less crowded pristine beach. It is a perfect weekend getaway. You can go there with your colleagues, friends and family just to relax and to get away from the monotonous life. You can also try some water sports; have some delicious food and drinks by the beach.
