Digha, a perfect weekend getaway for all those who live in West Bengal is the most enticing during winters. October to February is the best time to hit the beaches at Digha. Apart from beaches, there are aquariums and gardens to cover, for which the most comfortable time is during these months. Winter is also the time for the biggest celebration in the whole of Bengal- Durga Puja. Summers in Digha are hot and uncomfortable with temperatures rising up to 37 degrees celcius. This isn't an ideal time to visit the palce. Whereas in July the monsoon rains might wash away your plans to enjoy both beaches and amusement parks.The level of humidity is higher making it less pleasant to travel.

You could try spending a few hours at Talsari beach. It isn't as crowded and is quite beautiful. Apart from that, a visit to Shankarpur merely 15km away won't be too bad either. You can visit Digha on a shoe-string budget. Book hotels in advance and you can enjoy the a 3 days trip in less than 4000.

I like Digha as a perfect weekend outing spot and especially so because I love sea beaches. Though i visited Digha and its other nearby beaches like Udaipur, Tajpur, Mandarmani, Shankarpur etc. sever (Read More)al times, but still they attract me a lot whenever I think of a nearby weekend trip. - Do not forget to carry mosquito repellent. Also, carry enough cash to last the trip since there are very few ATMs and even those are not completely reliable.

The hotels usually face the beaches so they aren't far away from you. I've grown up going on weekend road trips to Digha and I swear by it, I highly recommend this small beach town for a trip.
