Saikai Bridge and Shin-Saikai Bridge, Sasebo Overview
Two bridges over the Hario Strait, where the tide funnels through and throws up visible whirlpools twice a day. The glass-floored walkway that lets you stand over the water is on the newer bridge, not the 1955 arch, which is the detail most itineraries reverse. The old bridge has the park with around a thousand cherry trees, making early April the better time to stop.
