Thirassia, Santorini Overview

Thirassia island is a quiet, traditional and authentic island that lies opposite Oia, west of Santorini. The island is mainly visited to explore the active volcano history and experience the raw beauty of Thirassia. The highlight is the virgin beaches and pure Cycladic landscape.

Another wonderful experience is a walk through the villages which offer spectacular views of extensive colourful gardens in front of the houses. Thirassia has more than 20 churches on the island, the most famous being the Monastery of the Assumption of the Virgin. Indulge in some authentic Greek cuisine in the local taverns and cafes. Many excursions involve a day trip to Thirassia, covering all essential sites and guided tours of the village. In summers, there are daily boat trips organized between Santorini and Thirasia, less than a 20-minute route. The boat departs from Ammoudi Bay to Riva, the port of Therasia.
