Jubilee Garden, Rajkot Overview

Jubilee Garden is situated in Lohana Para, the heart of the ever-bustling and busy city of Rajkot. It is an open garden with an expanse of lush green grasses within its boundaries and is ideal for a family picnic or a day out with friends. Within the Garden area, there is also a museum, an auditorium, a library which is known as Lang Library and a few fairground rides for the amusement of children. Timings to Jubilee Garden

Jubilee Garden is open for everyone during all the hours of the day. Practically, it is open for 24 hours but the suitable timing for a day-out is anywhere between 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM.

Open Timings of Lang Library: 9:00 AM till 8:00 PM
Open Timings of Watson Museum: 9:00 AM till 6:00 PM

However, Watson Museum closes every day between 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM for a break. The entrance inside the Arvindbhai Maniyar Auditorium is subject to prior registration or formal invitation.

Entry Fee to Jubilee Garden

There is no entry fee to enter inside the Garden, though entry tickets of Watson Museum cost INR 5 per individual. You can visit the Lang Library free of cost but if you wish to borrow a book, you can take a lifetime membership of the library which costs INR 2000 per person.

Jubilee Garden is located in the centre of Rajkot City, making it even more accessible for tourists. The Garden houses Arvindbhai Maniyar hall, Lang Library as well as Watson Museum.

Arvindbhai Maniyar Auditorium, popularly known as Cannaut Hall, is one of the oldest halls in the town. The hall attracts a huge chunk of local people to the Garden as it hosts several annual programs as well as theatrical and musical performances.

On the other hand, Watson Museum preserves the remaining invaluable collections of the Princely state of Rajkot including sculptures, paintings and manuscripts, folk embroidery and handicraft. Lang Library holds over 3 lakh books and has played a crucial role in keeping people interested in Gujarati Literature.

History of Jubilee Garden

The history of Jubilee Garden can be traced back to the 17th Century. Inside the garden, there is a miniature Mandapa, a pillared pavilion with porch-like structure, which is reminiscent of the architecture of 17th Century though the exact date of the Garden’s erection cannot be known with full certainty. However, The Lang Library and a few other buildings inside the Garden are known to have been constructed during the British Era owing to their Victorian-style architecture.

The nearest Railway Station is Rajkot Junction which is only at a distance of 1.8 kilometres from Jubilee Garden. As no buses ply in that route, you will have to hire a local taxi.
