Hennops Hiking Trail, Pretoria Overview

Hennops Hiking Trail refers to many hiking, driving and biking trails from Haeda camp along the Hennops River and into the surrounding mountains. The routes are popular for historical sites, rich wild and plant life, and unique river crossings. You may cross with a suspension bridge or a cable car.

There are three main hiking trails. The Dassie trail is the easiest and shortest trail, measuring 2 kilometres and with an elevation of 70 metres. It leads to the Pruimpe and Dassie caves. The Zebra trail is slightly longer at 5 kilometres and of average difficulty. It is famous for sighting the indigenous bird Bokmakieries and other animals like Zebras, Gnus, Impalas, Zonkie, Kudus and Blesboks. The most challenging trail is Krokodilberg which extends up to 10 kilometres and has an elevation of 400 metres. This trail leads to the Pruimpe and Dassie caves, various viewpoints, Dolomite mines and various game animals can be viewed along it.

Apart from these, the Zonkie trail can be traversed by any 4-wheeler. It is famous for the picturesque route and sightings of the diverse plant life and Kudu, Zebra, Blou Wildebeest and Blesbok. It is a very easy drive with many inbuilt detours that allow you to avoid obstacles. The Hennops MTP trail is a 40-kilometre bike trail with various options that will enable you to customize the experience to cater to you. It is famous for its varying terrain, beautiful scenery and rich wildlife. There is also a picnic spot with ten braais and two swimming pools.
