Halashana Falls, Ooty Overview
Halashana Falls (also known locally as Oteh Kodaaru) is a striking cascade near Ooty and Coonoor, dropping roughly 150 feet into a deep natural crater. Located on private estate land, visiting requires prior permission, but the effort is rewarded with a memorable view and serene atmosphere. Accessible via a short trek through dense forest, the falls are best experienced by lying back on nearby rocks to view the powerful flow safely. Ideal for monsoon to post-monsoon visits (September-March), the area remains peaceful and relatively uncrowded. Visitors should wear sturdy shoes and carry water, given the slippery terrain and limited amenities.
