Midland Beach and Franklin D. Roosevelt Boardwalk, Staten Island, New York City Overview

The 2.5 mile long Franklin D. Roosevelt Boardwalk is one of the most spacious beach areas in New York City and consists of 2 beaches- South Beach on the North side of the boardwalk and Midland Beach towards the South.

Largely a local area, the boardwalk is devoid of almost all commercial activity and is a place where people come to enjoy walking, cycling or relaxing by the beach. Nevertheless visitors are also rewarded with spectacular views of the New York City skyline from here. Midland beach also has its own fishing pier, the Ocean Breeze fishing pier, and the Ben Soto skate and bike park which attract crowds of all ages, and there are some newly open bike rental shops here as well. The beach is completely free of charge and hence makes a good spot for a quiet, relaxing beach day.
