Carrasco International Airport is 15 km east of the city. The airport is connected to the city centre via major four-divided arterial roads. Most international flights land here.
Renting a car in Montevideo is not recommended as the rent is high and the traffic on the road is heavy. It is recommended to hire a taxi to roam around in the city.
There are no railways to enter the city.
Bus services are also available via Buquebus company via colonia. It takes about an hour or two for buses to reach Montevideo, with around $U188. If you book via internet you may get the express service for around $U500.
Tourists can enter through waterways in boats or ferries operated by Buquebus. It just takes 2 hours to reach Montevideo if using ferries. The ferry arrives in the Ciudad Vieja district of Montevideo, situated very close to downtown.
