Tourists can enter through waterways in boats or ferries operated by Buquebus. It just takes 2 hours to reach Montevideo if using ferries. The ferry arrives in the Ciudad Vieja district of Montevideo, situated very close to downtown.
Buses are the best option to get around in the city as the city is not so large and knowing the bus route helps to get around even better. Taxis in the city are not cheap due to the high rates of gasoline, renting a car is better option if booked already.
