Situated in the northeast coast of Mallorca is Capdepera Castle, a medieval fortress set on a hill. It is surrounded by fortified stone walls that are triangle shaped. The hill is 159 m high, offering stunning views of the region, the islands of Mallorca and its sister island, Menorca.
One can clearly observe the surrounding vista, seascape, and the channel that separates the islands of Mallorca and its sister island, Menorca. The place was built to house the residents and protect them from pirates, its height enabled the people to see the danger coming from afar. Even today, due to its careful upkeep, you can appreciate the walls, the protective towers, and the houses where people used to live just as they were. At the castle, one can see the four strategically planned towers that made it easy to attack and a Gothic style walkway with military characteristics. It also features churches, water tanks, and the Governor’s house, dating back to the 13th and 14 centuries.
