Lingmala Falls, Mahabaleshwar Overview

The Lingmala Waterfall is a breathtaking and absolutely awe-inspiring waterfall that is situated on the Mahabaleshwar-Pune Road. Located just beside the forest Bungalow of Lingmala, the waterfalls provides a view of the beautiful Dhobi Waterfall as well as Chinaman's Waterfall.

The water level is nearly 500 feet from the cliff, and the falls appear ideal during the rainy season when the area is flooded with water. There are two waterfalls at this site. The first one is a mini waterfall, while the second is the main waterfall which falls from a height of 500 feet. The mini waterfall is suitable for swimming and playing around since it is very safe. From the mini waterfall, one has to walk for about 30 minutes to reach the main waterfall. Even though you cannot get into the water at the main waterfall, the place is a splendid one to enjoy magnificent views.

How to Reach Lingmala Falls

The Lingmala Waterfalls is just 6 kilometres away from the Mahabaleshwar Bus Stand, and you can hire a cab or take a bus from there to reach your destination.

The fall is situated on the right side of the road when one travels from Mahabaleshwar to Panchgani. A small signboard indicates the directions to reach the waterfall. On a narrow way from the signboard, one has to take a left turn and then drive for around 10 minutes to reach the entrance of the Lingmala Waterfalls. From the gate, the mini waterfall is 1.5 kilometres away, while the main waterfall is at a distance of 2.5 kilometres.

En route the lower deck, you will find a lot of stairs, and thus the trek can be tiring. It will take you around 30 minutes to reach the lower waterfall from the main entrance.

Best Time to Visit Lingmala Falls

The best time to visit the Lingmala Falls is from July to October. During this time, the waterfall is at its peak flow, and the sights are the most beautiful and enjoyable. However, avoid swimming in the waterfall during the rainy season as it can be dangerous.
