Encompassed by thick woods, waterfalls, and dams, Lonavala is an absolutely wonderful hill-station to visit. The Monsoon season is the best time to visit Lonavala, i.e. July to October, to see the lu (Read More)sh green splendour of the Sahyadris in all its glory. Bhushi Dam is the most popular tourist spot; simply sitting on the steps of the dam or on the rocks beneath and enjoying the force of the water is a great experience in itself. Lonavala has several tourist places in the form of caves, lakes, forts and waterfalls. Some of the best places to visit in Lonavala are Lohagad Fort, Rajmachi Point, Karla Caves, Valvan Dam, Lonavala Lake, Tiger's Leap, Bhaja Caves, Rajmachi Fort, Korigad Fort, Kune Waterfalls, Tikona Fort, Visapur Fort, Bedsa Caves and Tung Fort. Lonavala is also famous for its chikkis, sample the original ones at Maganlal Chikki, where you can also find fudges, jellies, and other savouries. Carry umbrellas and warm clothes.
