Lachung Temple, Leh Ladakh Overview

Located in the Nubra Valley, Lachung Temple is a religious pilgrimage found in the Diksit village. Besides housing some of the most colourful and narrative paintings, this temple is also one of the oldest holy sites in the region.

Dedicated to the Tibetan Buddhist teacher, Je Tsongkhapa, the Lachung Temple also sites a massive statue of him as well. The insides of this temple enclose intricately carved sections portraying the various stories about Buddhism and the chronology of its culture.

How to Reach Lachung Temple

Located about 75 km from the Diskit village centre, Lachung temple can be reached with a 2 hour-drive. Although situated in a valley, Nubra valley is quite easily reachable via roadways. There are some buses plying to this part of the village, however, they can be scarce. Travellers could also book jeeps to reach the Lachung Temple.
