Drive & Dine Restaurant, Kanpur Overview

Worried about not getting to go out and eat anymore due to the fear of the pandemic? Well not anymore!

Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh has got its very own drive-in restaurant, Drive & Dine, bringing to you social distance dining, mouth-watering delicacies, and car drives amidst a romantic backdrop. It is set in two beautiful banquet lawns of Status Hospitality Group’s restaurant Dhuaan in the Cantonment region of the city. The guests have the option to eat outside just like in a picnic while being surrounded by greenery or enjoy their meals while sitting in their cars.

Inception of the Idea

An innovative take on concept dining, Drive & Dine is a brainchild of the brother-sister duo, Insha and Yash Malhotra. They noticed how people were not as afraid to step out of the house if it was for drives as being in their own space made them comfortable. This is what sparked the idea! Having graduated from Cornell University in Hotel management in 2017 both of them joined the family business founded by their father, Vikas, and now they run 4 hotels, 10 restaurants, and 16 event spaces together.

Timings, Menu and Other Details

Days and Timings: 5 PM - Afterdark, All Week (Lawn 1: 10 cars - Open from Monday-Wednesday and Lawn 2: 30 cars - Open from Thursday-Saturday)

Dine-in and Delivery Options: 12 PM - 10 PM, All Week

There are a variety of choices to explore, from Chinese dishes, Italian pizzas, and pasta to tangy Indian street food like Kathi rolls and more.

They will place picnic tables, benches, and chairs right next to where your car is parked, and if you want you can also just sit in the comfort of your car and eat. The food orders are placed using QR codes by the guests and will reach them in golf carts in order to maintain social distancing.

Safety Protocols Followed By The Restaurant

The place is going to be sanitized regularly with electrostatic guns.
As you enter the restaurant, you will be welcomed at a kiosk where your temperature will be checked, the car bonnet will be sanitized and you will receive a token with a parking slot for each car divided with ropes, and other parking details.
Apart from that the crockery and cutlery will be sterilized and stored using a UV sterilization chamber.
Furthermore, guests will also have a special case to keep their face masks in to keep it safe when not in use.

The restaurant has been receiving an overwhelming response and to celebrate the owners hosted a drive-in movie night last week. They also hope to screen the Indian Premier League or IPL, later this month.
