Janakpur Women's Development Centre, Janakpur Overview

Mithila painting is the folk art of this region, worked in natural pigment with bold line and flat colour, and traditionally done by women on the walls of their homes. The cooperative at Kuwa turned it into a living for a few hundred of them. You can watch the work in progress and buy directly, which is not true of the shops in town, and it is a short ride south of the temples.
