Mithila tradition holds that when Ram broke Shiva's bow to win Sita's hand, a fragment flew north and landed here. A petrified piece of wood under a shelter is what pilgrims come to see, along with the pond and the temple beside it. It is about twenty kilometres from Janakpur and fills up at Ram Navami and Vivah Panchami, which is either the reason to time a visit or the reason not to.
