A wooded hill on the east side of the city with around 1,300 cherry trees and a view back over the centre, holding Japan's first public contemporary art museum, which reopened after a three-year renovation. Being 2 km from the park is the point: this is where you go when you want the city without the memorials, and it stays quiet even in blossom season compared with the riverbanks downtown.
