Children's Peace Monument, Hiroshima Overview
Built for Sadako Sasaki, who developed leukaemia ten years after the bombing and folded paper cranes in hospital, and for the other children who died. Unlike the rest of the park it has a living ritual attached: school groups from around the world send folded cranes, and the glass cases beside it are refilled constantly with hundreds of thousands of them. Free, and a two minute walk from the Cenotaph.
