Atomic Bomb Dome, Hiroshima Overview
The Prefectural Industrial Promotion Hall stood almost directly beneath the detonation, which is why its walls and skeletal dome survived when everything around them did not. It has been held in that ruined state ever since. Note that it carries its own UNESCO World Heritage listing, separate from the park around it, and it sits across the river from the museum end, so it is a stop in its own right rather than something you pass.
