Whale Watching in Mirissa, Galle Overview
Mirissa is hugely famous for its whale watching and dolphin watching activities. Whale watching in Mirissa allows visitors to enjoy watching them swim and play in their natural habitat. It is a completely unforgettable experience and a must-see for kids.
Boats leave Mirissa harbour early each morning, particularly worthwhile from December to March when blue whales, the largest animal on Earth, migrate along Sri Lanka's south coast, one of the few places to reliably spot them from a small boat. Trips generally run three to four hours and often include spinner dolphin sightings too. It's roughly a 45-minute drive from Galle, so an early start makes it workable as a half-day add-on to a Galle Fort visit.
