Dollymount Strand

Dollymount Strand, Dublin Overview

Located on Bull Island in Dublin Bay, Dollymount Strand is a stunning beach with a 5km stretch of white sand that runs along the shore, backed by dunes and lush greenery. It is the perfect place to enjoy a swim, soak in the sun, take a leisurely walk, or go kitesurfing or windsurfing.

Dollymount Strand was also used as a location for the shooting of the famous film "The Italian Job." A causeway links the island to the mainland and visitors can access two golf courses and several car parks. At the southern end of the island, a spacious car park grants visitors direct entry to the beach, where public restrooms are also available. In the center of the beach, there is another big car park with direct access. Lifeguards are on hand during the summer season, and there are mobile bars and food stands scattered around the island. History reveals that the beach was created by the construction of the North Bull Wall, which has been providing essential protection to Dublin Port since 1825.
