Piana Village

Piana Village, Corsica Overview

Listed as one of the prettiest villages in France, Piana is located about 400 metres above the Gulf of Porto on the western coast of Corsica. It is filled with traditional stone houses, narrow streets flanked by bars, restaurants and cafes, and a church that also forms a highlight of the scenic village.

It was founded in 1725. 18th-century church is built in the baroque style and is called the Sainte Marie or the church of the Assumption which holds a principal painting of Saint Hugo of Lincoln

Besides the church and the village square the area also offers swooning views of the coast, amazing landscape (Calanches de Piana) and the beaches that surround the village. Marina de Ficajola is a small natural harbour down from the village road which has attractive red-rock cliffs and although the sand is a tad bit more gritty the beach beside this panoramic village is absolutely magnificent. There are numerous sceneries worth visiting around the village as well, such as the coastal scenery of the Scandola Nature Reserve and the eye-pleasing Gorges de Spelunca.
