Sant Antonino

Sant Antonino Corsica, Corsica Overview

Sant Antonino is the only village in La Balagne that can be seen from anywhere in the entire Balagne region due to its altitude. Its narrow streets hold about 75 houses built into the rock from local stone. These labyrinthine streets form a maze around the granite rock hook.

Past the many archways lie an old bread oven and a wine press. An eagle’s nest, the quaintly rejuvenating Sant Antonino village is a love-at-first-sight sort of site for many. Climbing up through the village you encounter the old village fortifications and a rock atop which the breathtaking view of the entire Balagna awaits you. Leaving your car at the village’s entrance you walk along Ugo Colonna’s steps, the founder of the Sant Antonino village. You are at the heart of what was once called the ‘Garden of Corsica’.

All that climbing and walking may make the need for a meal and drink quite urgent, proceed to the village square where quite a few old and local restaurants and cafes await you. Do not forget to order ‘citronnade’!
