Cucuruzzu, Corsica Overview

Located in a beautiful and secluded forest, in Levie, is the archaeological site, Cucuruzzu. The fortress was carved out of natural elements like granite and stones. It is a well-preserved site showcasing buildings and statues from history. The remains collected during the excavations are open for public viewing.

The place is home to Casteddu de Cucuruzzu, which translates to Cucuruzzu Castle, a fortified settlement having a 4-5 meter long standing tower. It is also renowned for its menhir, which is a kind of a statue, that has been preserved as it is. Surrounding the place are lots of bushes and trees, some of then as old as 800 years! So, if you are a history buff, visit this place and be mesmerised by how meticulous our ancestors were. Discover the beauty of the past at Cucuruzzu. It was discovered by archaeologist Roger Grosjean in 1959.
