Hindu Temple of Greater Chicago, Chicago Overview

Established in 1977, the Hindu Temple Of Greater Chicago is a complex that includes two separate temples, The Rama Temple and the Ganesha-Shiva-Durga temple. The Rama temple has the deities of Lord Rama, Sita and Lakshman, Hanuman Lord Balaji, Mahalakshmi, and Radha Krishna.

On the other hand, the latter has the deities of Lord Shiva, Durga, Lord Ganesha, Lord Subramanya, and Appaswamy. Besides the temples, the complex also has a spiritual centre dedicated in the name of Swami Vivekanand. The temple celebrates some of the major festivals throughout the year including, Ramnavmi, Shiv Ratri, Janmashtmi, Diwali, Dussehra, Holi. Open to all, the temple conducts teachings of Hindu Dharma, Yoga classes, cultural activities, and meditation sessions.
