Hmuifang, Aizawl Overview

One of the most beautiful destinations in Mizoram, Hmuifang or Hmuifang Tlang is an amazing hill station with a lot to offer to the discerning traveller. Located a distance of 50 km from the capital city of Aizawl, Hmuifang is hill town at the heart of the state of Mizoram. The hill station is known for its adventure and wildlife-related activities which draws many enthusiasts to its hills. Hmuifang is also famous for holding a festival promoted by the Tourism Development of Mizoram called the Thalfavang Kut, that gives you a peek into the Mizo culture by showcasing various dances such as Cheraw, Sawlakai, Siktuithiang lam and Chheihlam

The Mizoram government is also paying special attention to the potential of the place to be a major tourist center by organizing an annual cultural festival known as Thalfavang Kut in the month of November

Hmuifang can be visited at any time of the year. The winters should be preferred due to the misty hills and the chilly air but temperatures remain wonderful for a visit anytime of the year. The verdant hills and misty sky make for one beautiful combination to behold while at Hmuifang Tlang during the winters. One would require to carry some woolens during winters while in summers cotton clothes will do just fine.

Hmuifang Tlang has a famous hill resort which offers great facilities and activities to do in the hill station but one is required to do advance booking in order to get a room. In case you can't get a room in the resort then Aizawl is your next best option for accommodation.

Hmuifang is located in the Mizo Hills and is representative of the greenery and rich biodiversity of the region. Being here you can experience life at its simplest form and be blown away by the freshness it has to offer.

  • Air: Lingui airport in Aizawl is the only airport in the state and is connected to Guwahati and Kolkata. One can take a taxi from Lingui till Hmuifang Tlang.

  • Rail: Nearest rail head to Aizawl is Silchar which 158 km away, Silchar is well connected to Guwahati Railway Station. From Silchar you can catch a bus or hire a Tata Sumo till Aizawl.

  • Road: Aizawl is 450 km from Guwahati by road and is connected by National Highways to the capital cities of other North-Eastern states as well. There are connecting buses and hired Tata Sumo which provide connectivity to the city. From Aizawl you can easily hire a Tata Sumo till Hmuifang Tlang or catch a state bus.
