I went for the 7-day exclusive Spiti Valley trip with WanderOn as a solo female traveler, and honestly, I don’t think I’ll ever regret taking this trip.
Here are my pros and cons after experiencing o (Read More)ne of the most beautiful road trips ever.
Pros:
• I travelled with a group of 10 people along with 2 trip captains, Tasdeeq and Alqama.
• The captains were extremely well-versed with the locations, terrains, weather conditions, and local history. They constantly guided us with important information throughout the journey.
• 10/10 stays considering the pricing and the extreme remote locations.
• 100/10 group energy — we had doctors, lawyers, software engineers, a content creator, and a young souls to make sure nobody felt old.
• The itinerary was very well planned and smoothly managed.
• Guidelines regarding landslides, altitude issues, and other major situations were shared well in advance.
• Biggest plus: you never really have to carry your luggage around. Someone would pick it up right from your doorstep at every stay.
• It’s a road trip, and somehow the roads and views just kept getting better every single day.
Cons:
• Since it’s a long road trip at high altitude, please be mindful of your medicines, hydration, and food intake. Altitude sickness is very common. The captains are trained for emergencies, but personal precautions are equally important.
• Food options are limited because of the remoteness of the region. Most places serve basic dal chawal, rajma, and curry, so carry your own snacks or meals if you’re particular about food.
• Temperatures fluctuate a lot. Even though basic necessities are provided during stays, layering properly and keeping yourself warm is very important.
• I would genuinely recommend avoiding alcohol and smoking during the trip, as dehydration can increase the risk of AMS or HAPE symptoms.
Overall, this trip gave me some incredible memories, beautiful landscapes, and genuinely amazing people. Spiti is not an easy trip, but if you prepare well, it’s absolutely worth experiencing at least once.
