Is passport required for Sikkim?
If you are an Indian citizen, you do not need to have a passport in order to enter Sikkim but if you are a foreign national, you must have a valid passport and visa to enter India and subsequently Sikkim. Since Sikkim lies close to countries like China, a lot of its regions have entry restricts. Any foreign national would need to procure the Restricted Area Permit or Inner Line Permit to enter the state and all visitors, Indians or foreigners, must get the Protected Area Permit to visit areas closer to the borders like Nathula Pass, Yumthang Valley, Tsomgo Lake and Gurudongmar Lake.
Is there snowfall in Sikkim?
Not all of Sikkim receives snowfall during the winters. Areas which are located at a higher altitude such as Nathula Pass, Yumthang Valley, Lachen Village, Thangu Valley, Gurudongmar Lake, etc. are covered in snow from December onwards. The temperature drops as low as -5°C and the views are absolutely magnificent. You can also ride the ropeway, go skiing and yak riding during this time.
Is Aadhar Card valid in Sikkim?
Yes, the Aadhar card is definitely valid in Sikkim and is accepted as a proof of identification anywhere. It is also accepted if you are applying for a permit to enter the areas which are closer to the border. Other forms of identification which are accepted include your passport, voter ID and driving license, all of which must have been issued by the State or Central Government and should have your photograph and address.
